It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
Evergreen Academy was meant to be my fresh start. My hair was on point. My skin was flawless. And now I wore the hell out of my clothes instead of hiding them.
Even running into Ryder hadn’t thrown me. So what that the green-eyed devil who tormented me for years now ruled my new school with a band of boys everyone called the Knights. The four of them were devastatingly rich, enviously handsome… and heartbreakingly cruel.
But the Evergreen Knights didn’t scare me. I had my own plans and no reason to enter their little world… until one fateful night and a masquerade ball changed everything.
I saw something I shouldn’t have and now I’ve been Marked.
They’ll do everything they can to break me but they don’t know the monsters I’ve faced. They don’t know I’ve been broken before.
If they want to take on Valentina Moon… bring it on.
Marked is a high school bully romance with a sweet tinge of mystery. This is book one in the series and features language and sexual scenes. If you’re cool with that, dive in!
My Rating: 5 EFFING stars
Valentina Moon is this girl from the wrong side of the tracks with a lot of secrets and history that is waiting to be discovered. She starts at the most exclusive school in the country (which is paid for who knows how) and seems to fit in fine among the rich prep school kids. This exclusive school is not your average school and is basically run by a group of kids called The Knights. Everything is settling in nicely and Valentine even seems to be getting on nicely with some of the Knights. Until she see something she really isn’t supposed to (even if she doesn’t have a freaking clue what it is).
Next morning she opens her locker and finds out she is Marked. Not only does the entire school turn against her, but even her best friends start bullying her. Things are really tough but no matter what they throw at Valentina she sticks around and keeps her head up.
So this is a reverse harem with a REALLY slow burn as her obvious love interest seriously bully her for the entire first book. Valentina is an amazingly strong character. Not only is she not giving up when pretty much everything gets thrown at her but she doesn’t let it get her down. Every step of the way she snaps back at them and gives them as good as she can.
This book was narrated really well. Jillian Yetter’s inflections and characterization are really well done. She does a really great teenager. And her ‘male’ voice was believable and strong.
I am so in love with this book and every little secret that gets revealed along the way.
